Pest control audits for GCC operations
An independent audit of the pest programme running on your site, against a written checklist rather than an opinion. PVS Advisory audits your own operation or the contractor delivering it, and reports findings you can act on and evidence you can show an inspector.
Carried out by Juan Rodriguez, Board Certified Entomologist, across Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar.
The programme looks fine on paper and keeps failing
Most operations that call us are not neglecting pest management. They are paying for it monthly, holding a folder of service reports, and still getting findings at inspection or sightings in areas that were treated a fortnight ago. The gap is almost never the chemistry. It is that nobody has checked whether the programme in the folder is the programme running on the floor.
An audit answers a narrow question: does the evidence support the claim. Devices are counted and located, records are reconciled against what was actually done, thresholds are checked for whether they exist at all, and corrective actions are followed through to see whether anything changed. Where the programme holds up, you get that in writing, which is worth having when a client or an auditor asks.
The second reason is contractual. Facilities teams and food businesses are judged on a contractor they do not technically supervise, and service reports are written by the party being judged. An independent audit gives you a factual basis for that conversation, and in most cases the contractor improves and stays.
Common triggers
- A municipal or brand inspection raised a finding
- A recurring problem your contractor cannot explain
- A client or certification body asked for evidence
- You inherited a programme you did not design
- A tender requires an independent technical review
What a pest control audit checklist should cover
A checklist that only counts bait stations tells you very little. These are the six areas we work through, and the ones where findings usually sit.
Documentation
Monitoring network
Records and traceability
Structure and sanitation
Corrective action
Contractor performance
A report written to be acted on
The report lists findings ranked by risk, each with what was observed, why it matters for your operation, and the corrective action we recommend. Photographs are included where a finding is visual. Nothing is graded against a score we invented; findings are framed against the requirements your site is actually held to.
Where the audit covers a contractor, the report separates what is within their scope from what sits with the site. That distinction matters, because half of what gets blamed on a pest contractor is a building or housekeeping issue they have no authority to fix.
If the programme needs rebuilding instead of correcting, that is SOP development, and the audit findings feed straight into it. Where the gap is technician capability, PVS Academy certification covers the same ground in the field. The commercial track covers HACCP and municipal inspection readiness, and the critical environments track covers JCI, CBAHI and GMP requirements.
In the report
- Findings ranked by risk, with photographs
- Corrective actions, each with an owner
- Site issues separated from contractor issues
- Monitoring network map and gaps
- What to re-check, and when
Four kinds of buyer, four different questions
Pest control operators
An independent review before a client audit, or to settle whether a recurring complaint is a technical failure or a site condition.
Facilities management
Evidence of whether a subcontracted programme is delivering, and grounds to hold performance against the contract.
Food and hospitality
Readiness for municipal inspection and brand standard audits, with the documentation gaps identified before an inspector finds them.
Municipal and industrial
Programme-level review across many sites, where consistency and reporting matter as much as the treatment at any one location.
Audited against the standard that applies to you
Requirements and inspecting bodies differ by market, so an audit is run against the standard your site is actually held to, never a generic template. See Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar, or the full services.
Request a technical audit
Tell us what prompted it: an inspection finding, a recurring problem, a contractor you cannot verify, or a tender that asks for independent review. You will speak with the entomologist who would carry out the audit.
