PVS Academy · Track 10

Termite pre-construction treatment and management certification

Pre-construction soil treatment, post-construction remedial control, active infestation management and monitoring. Termite treatment is a mandatory procurement line item for developers, contractors and FM companies managing building handovers across the GCC, and this track trains the people who carry it out and sign it off.

A premium track from PVS Academy, the training arm of Precision Vector Solutions, designed by Juan M Rodriguez, Board Certified Entomologist.

Why this track

Termite work is checked at handover, and again at every warranty inspection

A pre-construction treatment is invisible once the slab is poured. What the developer, the consultant and later the FM company have to go on is the treatment record, the certification and the warranty that come with it. When those are thin, nobody can show what was applied, where, or at what coverage.

The same gap shows up after handover. Remedial treatment, baiting programmes and drywood work all depend on inspection skill and on records an auditor or a municipality can follow. This track covers the treatment itself and the documentation that has to stand behind it.

For an operator that needs the same standard taught on its own sites and procedures, the track can also run as team training.

Who takes this track

  • Technicians carrying out pre-construction and remedial treatment
  • Supervisors who sign off treatment records and handover packages
  • FM managers responsible for termite warranties and annual inspections
Curriculum

Eight modules, from soil treatment to warranty audits

Every track builds on the Level 1 Foundation Certificate, which covers IPM, pest biology and inspection, pesticide science and application, and health, safety and documentation. The termite modules then add the following.

Module 01 · Sector

Termite biology and GCC species

  • Subterranean termites: Coptotermes, Microcerotermes, Anacanthotermes and their GCC distribution
  • Drywood termites: Cryptotermes, Kalotermes, identification and damage patterns
  • Colony structure, castes and foraging behaviour
  • Mud tube construction, swarm seasons and early detection signs

Module 02 · Sector

Pre-construction soil treatment

  • Site preparation: soil conditions, moisture and compaction factors
  • Termiticide selection: emulsifiable concentrates, non-repellents, repellents
  • Application methods: trench-and-treat, rod injection, slab pre-treat
  • Treatment rates, coverage calculation and soil absorption factors

Module 03 · Sector

Pre-construction treatment, structures and documentation

  • Foundation walls, piers and expansion joint treatment
  • Pipe and conduit penetration sealing and treatment
  • Pre-construction certification: what developers and consultants require
  • Treatment record, warranty documentation and handover package

Module 04 · Sector

Post-construction remedial treatment

  • Active infestation inspection: probing, sounding, moisture meter use
  • Localised treatment: spot injection, foam application, void treatment
  • Full perimeter trench-and-treat for established infestations
  • Remedial treatment documentation and client reporting standards

Module 05 · Sector

Baiting systems

  • In-ground bait station installation: spacing, placement and soil conditions
  • Above-ground stations for active mud tubes and intercept points
  • Monitoring schedule: inspection intervals and bait matrix replacement
  • Colony elimination confirmation and programme close-out

Module 06 · Sector

Drywood termite management

  • Inspection methods: probing, frass detection, sounding structural members
  • Localised treatment: spot fumigation, foam injection, microwave
  • Whole-structure fumigation: process, safety and GCC regulatory context
  • Wood preservation treatments and preventive measures

Module 07 · Sector

Wood-boring beetles and wood decay

  • Lyctus powderpost beetles and Anobium furniture beetle: identification and damage
  • Wood-boring beetles in structural timber and in furniture
  • Wood decay fungi: wet rot, dry rot, recognition and management
  • Treatment options and preventive wood treatment products

Module 08 · Advanced

FM contracts, warranties and audit readiness

  • Termite warranty structure: scope, duration, re-treatment obligations
  • Annual inspection protocols and warranty renewal documentation
  • Termite management in FM contracts: scope definition and pricing
  • Municipality and consultant audit requirements for treated buildings

What you earn

Certified Termite Management Technician

Awarded on completion of the track and its field practicum. The certificate renews every two years and carries 4 CEU.

It also counts toward the wider PVS certification ladder: the Foundation Certificate plus any four tracks leads to the PVS Certified Professional Field Technician designation. See the full certification ladder, or the landscape and red palm weevil track.
